When to Go for Umrah?

When Is the Best Time to Perform Umrah?

The act of visiting the Kaaba is referred to as Umrah. So, when is the best time to go for Umrah? The most accurate answer to this question is: "Umrah can be performed at any time." This is because there is no specific date or period designated for Umrah. Therefore, anyone wishing to perform Umrah can do so whenever they choose.

The only exception to this is during the Day of Arafah, when Hajj is obligatory, and the four days of Eid al-Adha. Performing Umrah during this five-day period is considered makruh (discouraged), as these are the days when the rituals of Hajj are carried out.

When planning a trip for Umrah, the following timings are often considered ideal:
For students and teachers, the summer holidays—when schools are closed and there are no academic obligations—are the most suitable time. Similarly, for families with children, school breaks offer the best opportunity for Umrah. That’s why summer Umrah tours are popular.

For working individuals, the best time to go for Umrah is during their annual leave. Additionally, long holidays that occur when Eid al-Fitr coincides with a weekend are also considered ideal for Umrah.

For retirees, as long as they have no health issues, they can perform Umrah whenever it suits them best.
Regardless of the timing, every Umrah visit is considered virtuous. However, it is widely regarded that the most blessed time to perform Umrah is during the month of Ramadan.
During Ramadan, not only can one visit the holy lands, but they can also fast in those sacred places and fulfill all acts of worship in a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere.

Umrah Tour Programs

Taking all the above considerations into account, Umrah tour programs are organized accordingly. There is no fixed date for Umrah tours. Since there is no obligation to perform Umrah within a specific time frame, tour operators organize Umrah trips throughout the year.

However, the most popular and busiest period for Umrah tours is during Ramadan. A significant increase in the number of Muslims wishing to perform Umrah is observed during this time.

Once applicants submit the required documents to the travel agencies, the necessary legal procedures are completed within approximately 15 days, allowing them to perform Umrah. Therefore, it is recommended that individuals who wish to go for Umrah apply to travel agencies about one month before their intended departure date.
