What to Know About Umrah?

What Is Umrah?
The word Umrah means "to visit," and in religious terms, it refers to a form of worship that involves performing the pilgrimage without any fixed time. It includes entering the state of Ihram, performing Tawaf around the Kaaba, carrying out Sa’i between the hills of Safa and Marwah, shaving or cutting the hair, and exiting the state of Ihram. While Umrah can be performed at any time of the year, it is considered Makruh (discouraged) to perform it between the morning of the Day of Arafah and the evening of the fourth day of Eid al-Adha. Those wishing to perform Umrah first offer two units of prayer (rak'ah), make the intention (niyyah), enter into Ihram, and complete the rituals accordingly.

What Should You Consider When Choosing an Umrah Tour?
Umrah is an act of worship. To perform this worship with sincerity, it is important to be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who can help you truly connect with its spiritual meaning. While it's understandable to consider budget-friendly options among various tour packages, it’s essential to inquire thoroughly about accommodation conditions, including the type of hotel and overall travel arrangements. Staying in an uncomfortable environment and constantly complaining may negatively affect your spiritual focus.
It is also crucial to follow the guide's instructions carefully. Once you set foot on the holy land, remember that you are stepping into a different realm. Reflect on the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his companions buried there, and their manners. Strive to act accordingly with respect and humility. Avoid looking for faults in others, extend kindness to fellow pilgrims, and refrain from idle or inappropriate behavior—these are all acts that help preserve the sincerity and spiritual value of your Umrah.
