Are slippers necessary during Umrah?

You won't be able to part with your slippers throughout your Umrah journey. They will always be one of your greatest companions during all acts of worship and travel.

However, it's important to remember that soft, sponge-like slippers or sandals won't be very practical. Especially during busy times, when you'll need to put on and take off your slippers quickly amidst crowds, choose slippers that are easy to wear. Make sure the heel part of your slippers is completely open. There will be many times when you have to step on the heel, and you won't have time to bend down and fasten it. Otherwise, you might end up stepping on buckles and hurting your feet.

Additionally, the slippers should be seamless, with an open heel and a design that leaves the bone on the top of your foot exposed (as you cannot wear them while in Ihram).

Other features you should look for in slippers:

  • Non-slip soles,

  • Quick-drying (not sponge-like),

  • Lightweight for ease of use,

  • Durability is crucial, as they should not fail you during the journey,

  • Avoid high-heeled slippers, as they will only add extra difficulty during intense activity.
